The banjoo one will be better, but if you dont build the first one you cant build a second one. Originally posted by bobduncan As a homeschooling family we have found the Foxfire series a great addition to our childrens curriculum. The banjo is glued together and the neck and top ring screw on with aged brass bahjo. They represent a treasure lode, of old time ways, banji way life was and the skills needed to live! I’ve learned a ton of tricks from him. If you’re making one according to the Carver Banjo plan, it has no perch stick, so just shape the tabs where the neck piece joins the body piece, to give you a slant. The pot is just a few circular pieces of wood, the front and back piece with tabs to screw into the neck where they overlap. The plans show how to build a fretted as well as a fretless model. My mountain banjo has been hanging here, tuned for years and the neck is straight as ever. This project was to build my own 5 string banjo on as low a budget as of the Fox Fire books and they have a wonderful section on making your own banjo. Foxfire continues to be a fresh, exciting experience for all of us because of the basic generosity and good will that run strong and deep within most people. Based on notes and drawings from Fox Fire Books. Note the sections and joints making up the ring. Another view of my first banjo in process.
